Mann's Best Friend Fitness

A Fitness class to get you and your dog moving together. This class is great for dogs who already have some positive training experience. You will enjoy running through hoops, tunnels and around weave poles and playing fun games outdoor with your dog. This class runs in the summer only.
Dogs must be polite.

Pristine Puppies (@ Dog People)

For new puppies age 12 -20 weeks old with their 2nd set of vaccinations. An intro class to learn through socialization and play sessions. They learn from other pups, what people cannot teach them and learning this as early in life as possible is benefial for every puppy.
Cues for basic manners will be introduced: sit, lay down, stay, come, leave it, loose leash walking

Puppy Plus (@ Dog People)

For VERY friendly, playful puppies aged 5 mths to 1 year.
Since most puppy classes end when your puppy is 5 months old, your puppy may have missed out on the socialization class, but now you can take Puppy Plus! Previous Puppy Class graduates also welcome to come and continue socializing.
If they're not comforable with play sessions, you can start with Happy Hounds.

Happy Hounds @ Dog People

For dogs who are over 5mths of age who are just starting out, or who have graduated from a Puppy class.
The basic cues will be introduced and practiced with distractions: Eye Contact, Sit, Down, Stand, Off, Come, Get-in (heel), Leave it, Stay... and a couple tricks for confidence building.
We will also have discussions regarding basic grooming, problem behaviors, animal body language & communication and off leash etiquette.
By the graduation class your dog will be practicing their newly learned activities while loose leash walking through an obstacle course!
The first class is orientation without dogs. Class 2-6 you do bring your dogs. Please see the list of what to bring to class and contact Mann's BFF with any curriculum inquiries.

***If your dog experiences any stress around other dogs or people eg. repetitive barking, growling, snapping or inability to calm down, you should take Pawsitive Reactions before Happy Hounds - this will give you a much happier dog and a more successful training experience.***
All training is postive reinforcement (treat training, with a phase out of the dependency on treats)

Pawsitive Reactions @ Dog People

For dogs with social issues or an inability to calm down at the sight of another dog or person. This class brings the dogs in individually for training, with only 2 dogs/class.

Basic Adult Dog Obedience

This course is a great first step in developing a lifelong friendship with your four-legged best friend. Learn positive, gentle methods to help communicate how you want your dog to behave. Basic obedience skills are covered along with Tellington Touch, and leading and teaching your dog self control. In addition to Calgary Humane Society handouts, all students receive a copy of How to be the Leader of the Pack by Patricia McConnell.

Requirements: Dogs must be spayed or neutered, older than 5 months (20 weeks) and must have up-to-date vaccinations. Your dog must be calm and sociable around other dogs; not reactive. Examples of reactive behaviors: raised hackles, barking, lunging, growling, cowering, etc. (If your dog demonstrates these behaviours, skip to reactive dog classes)

Classes are one hour long and run for eight consecutive weeks.

$200for non-members
$180 for CHS members, seniors and dogs rescued from shelters or other rescue organizations (including CHS, Animal Services, ARF, etc.)

Fees are non-refundable.
